Last night, my banter with my younger sister Aila ended up in a little drawing battle. She knew that the odds are not in her favor (especially in terms of the drawing quality) but she went on with it anyway, knowing that she has the upper hand when it comes to creating the most offending barb. It all started when I commented on her head being too heavy and big for her body (it’s a random observation that I thought I only said in my mind). In return, she retorted that my head is too small for my body, and that I’m a fat, heavy balloon that can float anytime. The repartee went on, each half-cackled, half-said phrase punctuated with an occasional playful slap on the leg or arm. When our eyes landed on a box of oil pastels, the real fight began (much to our mother’s ire, because our voices overlap the TV’s volume, tuned in to the latest news about Hayden Kho).
I made my ‘contest piece’ in caricature style, just perfect for her too-big head. The black pastel wasn’t in the box anymore, so I used the darkest color left, blue, for her hair. Aila had put some pink highlights on her head some weeks ago (it’s not so much of a hairdon’t, really, since they appear redder) so I scribbled some reddish-brown color on it. Oversized toes and fingers, wide mouth and pig-nose, minus the underwear—voila! It’s Aila’s perfect portrait!!!!
My ‘portrait’ that she drew—her masterpiece, as she called it—was a bit rushed because she was hurrying to see the grand finals of our community’s amateur contest already starting at that time. The dominating figure on her figure was a large circle with few contours on it to show some body parts. She put on some chicken legs and sausage-like arms, one hand (according to her) curled up ‘punk-style’ (commonly called, ‘demon horns’). Added with a swish of a ponytail, a half-moon mouth and slits as eyes, and my picture was finished. She wrote ‘BUTSEKO’ at the top, a messed-up version of my nickname ‘Butchick’; below, she wrote ‘Lipad na!’.
Like every contest that we engaged in, neither won. What else was there to expect when the judges were us ourselves?! *facepalms*
She immediately tore out of the house after that, and our refrigerator door was now embellished/marred (it depends on the looker) by the two pictures. I’m actually waiting for father to come home and comment on them, teehee.
Maybe it was just me…but the event made something in me stung. I mean, it’s been a long time since I last touched those oil pastels—or any art material at that. It’s like…meeting an old friend (?). All summer, I’ve been constantly sitting in front of the laptop, making a hermit of myself on ‘The Pit’, updating and proofreading fanfics. Maybe it’s this ‘little artist’ in me that tugged at my heartstrings. I love drawing and painting as much as I love making stories and poems. I know I’ll get back to them someday…when I’m not busy anymore, or when I get the vibe. :)
(PS: Tinamaan na ata ako ng AH1N1 virus! *sniff* I have flu……)

Wishlist
Yaay, finally! My own wishlist! XD
Mamu has done something like this before. I don’t know what’s gotten into me when I made this list (and I can’t remember when I actually made it; I just dusted it off after ages of ignoring it sitting at my computer). I figure sharing this won’t hurt, so here you go. These are just some of the things I wish I could have; there’s a LOT more that are too ambitious and I didn’t include them here—mainly because those are mostly NOT material things and I prefer to write them only in my mind. XD
Oh well. Here are my little wishes (not in particular order). I have this penchant of naming my ‘new babies’, so there are some of them that are accompanied with the names that I’m planning to christen them with. Hee!
#1. ‘Pietro’

A Bestler violin. Visit http://stringworks.com/.
Ah yes, little Mr. Pietro is a darling violin XD. I know it’s silly—I don’t even know how to play one! But come to think of it, how could I learn it if I’ve never been able to touch a real violin all my life? I’ll start my lessons right away after someone gifts Pietro to me!! Yaaaay!! *drools*
No, but seriously, I love music. My first flute lessons in grade three, the gamelan band I was a part of in high school, my first annoying attempts of whistling through a leaf…these little things happened because of my love for music. If there’s one instrument I’d like to be able to play (uh…aside from that shiny Epiphone Les Paul guitar that Ray Toro fiddles with), this is it. I think that there’s nothing more serenely magical—more ecstatically hypnotic—than the voice of a violin’s strings. Love!!! *drools some more*
#2. ‘Leilalie’

Wacom Intuos3 6x8 Tablet. Visit http://www.wacom.com/index.html.
She’s a graphics pen tablet, and is the oldest ‘official wish’ I stamped in my mind. XD Intuos, Bamboo, Cintiq, PenPartner—I don’t care what model she is or what product line she’s under. I wanted her ever since I entered editorial cartooning (during my first encounter with student journalism in grade school; I’m in hiatus now, though. XDD).
Having Leilalie around will surely come in handy, especially for the career I chose to pursue. Hmm…she’ll be a great help for my fanarts…..
#3. ‘Soosh’, ‘Mack’, and ‘Tack’

Sushi and Takuyaki flash drives. Visit http://www.engadget.com/.
ZOMG!! Sushi—California Maki! Takuyaki!!
Ahem. Don’t let them deceive you—if you think they’re those convenience store-rolled Jap delights, you’re wrong! Well, technically wrong, because they’re not the real thing. XD They’re just those yummy-looking USB flash drives. Hmm, probably the cutest designs that I’ve ever seen (they ‘dethroned’ my last favorite USB design—a KitKat bar). I’m a fan of Japanese cuisine and I’m almost always in front of the computer so...when I stumbled upon these precious things in a gadgets website, I just squeeeeee!!!! and mentally jotted them down to my wish list. XD
Hmmm. Just in case you ask, I don’t want all of them—one will be just fine (heck, what am I going to do with three of them, anyway? But then, who am I to refuse if you want to give me all of them? *bats eyelashes*).
While it’s a tad dorky, naming them is fun so I did it again. XDDD
#4. Jing-jing, Phem, Mo’, Kaile, Racki, Hobby….
*shudders*

Tamagochi V.5, cookie dough design. Visit http://tamatown.com/.
I don’t know why…but I find these nicknames cute one minute and spine-tingling in the next. Anyways, they’re originally given to my nieces and cousins and I steal them to be given to my virtual pets in the future. XD
Yes, they’re going to be my new babies once I get a tamagotchi V.5! Heehee. I can’t remember how many tamagotchis have been a part of my childhood, but all I can say is that I never get tired of them…and I still want them. Yes, I’ve heard of Super Pets and Pet Society….but they’ll never have the feel of that digital friend dangling along with my other keychains when I go to school. *sighs dreamily*
Aww, I miss my chibi T-rex!!!! *sniffs*
#5. Gaiman babies

A complete Abosute Sandman set. Visit http://neilgaiman.com/.
I don’t have to name them because they have their own…. Hee! I’m referring to the whole Sandman series, Neil Gaiman’s most famous masterpieces. XD
Pictured here is the complete ‘Absolute Sandman’ set (complete indeed, with Dream and Death sitting as bookends). Anyone who totally knows me is aware that I’m in love with anything that Gaiman writes…Oh, which reminds me…I haven’t watched Coraline yet….
*facepalms*
Anyways, I just have to tell you that the Sandman series is a comic book series. Their names are Preludes and Nocturnes, The Doll’s House, Dream Country, Season of Mists, A Game of You, Fables and Reflections, Brief Lives, World’s End, The Kindly Ones, and The Wake.
One volume costs……
*tries to remember*
Eight hundred plus. XDDD And there are ten of them so…..
#6. Michel Cluizel

A box of Michel Cluizel chocolates. Visit http://www.blogger.com/www.chocolatmichelcluizel.com%20.
Whoops, naw it’s not me who named it. XD
This box of oh-so-sinfully-delicious little things was named after the one who made them. Uh, I’m not really sure who Michel Cluizel is……at first I know I could’ve picked up a box of Richard Donnelly treats…but then I find this one awfully delicious to the eyes. Sheesh, that’s what I hate about myself; I’m not immune when it comes to chocolate gastroporn pictures. XD
#7. Brooke

A moleskine notebook. Visit http://www.moleskine.com/.
She’s a moleskine notebook. I love to write. ‘Nuff said.
Yayzors for lunatics like me! XD
*runs at the sight of straightjackets*
#8. Life on the Murder Scene

The cover of the live album 'Life on the Murder Scene'. Visit http://mychemicalromance.com/.
Yes, that’s its name. This is one of the two My Chemical Romance CD’s that I wasn’t able to purchase. The other one is ‘I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love’. I know I should widen my ‘hunting ground’—SM Manila, San Lazaro, and North EDSA, Ever Gotesco Mall, Tutuban Shopping Center—they don’t have it!
If it wouldn’t be possible to receive this as a gift, then maybe information about where I can purchase them will do. XD
#9. Disneyland Tickets

Disneyland 'E' tickets for juniors and adults. Visit http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/home/home?name=HomePage.
Oh right! Fun! Whether it’s in Tokyo, Hongkong, or in California, a night of fun at Disneyland will be priceless!
Hee. If I name them I’ll surely classify myself as a complete mental case. XD But hey, I’m gonna keep the ticket stubs as souvenirs!
#10. Dr. Pepper

A can of Dr.Pepper soft drink. Visit http://www.drpepper.com/.
OMG, dorkiness again! Heehee, I’m serious though. I’ve never tasted a can of Dr. Pepper before (hoo, there’s not even a single can of it available here, right?). Er…but at the moment I’ll appreciate a plastic cup of sago’t gulaman and a few carefree minutes of chitchat. XDDD
Man, I’m bored!!
So we reached wish number ten….Hey what’s that?

#n. World Peace
Awwww! Heehee. Looks like this one’s out of the classification bracket for this list. But no kidding! I decided to include it here.
Sometimes, no matter how much materialistic we can get, there’s going to be always those wishes that we can never really get by any financial means. XD
World peace, guys!
Maybe it’s only us who’re making ourselves believe that it’s millions of miles away from our grasps.
Who knows? XD
PSAN: Sorry for the abuse of ‘XD’ here! Heehee!
